Thriving Families is back in Term 2! Thriving Families has been developed after a successful pilot research trial by one of our wonderful directors, Kemi, as part of her PhD study. The aim of Thriving Families is to support parents in building confidence and motivation in their children towards physical activity, and will run alongside the standard Thriving program.
We are inviting Thriving participants to sign up to our 10-week Thriving Families program. As a Thriving Family, you will be given the knowledge and practical strategies to help improve your child’s motivation and confidence towards physical activity. Participation in this is entirely voluntary and will not impact your enrolment in the Thriving Program.
Throughout the duration of the program, you will be invited to 3 parent workshops with one of our experienced Exercise Physiologists as well as 1 feedback session. The workshops have been designed to help you feel more confident in helping you build your child’s motivation and confidence towards physical activity. We aim to provide you with some useful and practical strategies to help you in the future. The workshops will take place upstairs from the Thriving gym and will be running alongside your child's Thriving session time (convenient!)
Participant (child) Requirements
Alongside their Thriving program a few additional fitness assessments will be incorporated and home activity packs to help them work towards their goals. This is unlikely to require any additional sessions or time commitment from families.
A unique component of the program is the use of Activity Cards at home. Thriving Families provides various fun games to do at home, and participants will be given the opportunity to borrow equipment equipment from the Thriving gym. Whatever your child's goal, we can provide you with a range of activities to challenge skill, strength and fitness.
